Abstract

1,016,331. Wheel tyres; vehicle wheels. ROAD MACHINES (DRAYTON) Ltd., and L. E. RUSTON. March 1, 1962 [June 5, 1961], No. 20248/61. Headings B7C and B7L. A wheel for a monorail vehicle comprises a tyre 16 of resilient material such a polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride or neoprene, secured between flanges 17 bolted to the wheel hubs 13, the peripheral surface of the tyre 21 being shaped to co-operate with the cylindrical head 9 of a monorail 8. A powered monorail transporter vehicle is described in which the wheel shaft is chain driven from a petrol engine. A flat-headed rail may be used.
