Abstract

1488868 Vehicles; amphibious vehicles A KEMENY K M KEMENY and T G SCHICK 28 Feb 1974 [14 March 1973 22 Jan 1974] 9020/74 Headings B7A and B7H A wheel system, for attachment to a land, sea, air or rail vehicle, comprising a frame or platform 7 adapted to be attached to the vehicle and rotatably mounting pairs of chain wheels 15 at each end, axles 11 or 21 fixed between chains 12, 13 or 22 trained about the chain wheels, and roller 5 or 24 rotatably mounted on the axles and contacting the undersurface of the platform or frame as the axles pass thereunder on rotation of the chain wheels. In one arrangement, Fig. 1, 2, the rollers 5 act as ground wheels, whilst in another embodiment (Fig. 2A, not shown) the axles are extended at the sides of the platform and carry ground wheels (5A) of greater diameter than rollers 5. In a form suitable for sea vehicles the rollers 24 are mounted in pairs at each end of each axle 21 and flotation chambers 23 are fixed to the axles.
