Abstract

1352641 Tractor for elevated railway DEMAG AG 17 March 1972 [21 April 1971] 12581/72 Heading B7L A tractor is supported by wheels 1 on an overhead rail R and is driven by a pair of synthetic rubber driving wheels 5 mounted on a hollow shaft 21 together with an intervening plastics worm-wheel 6 which engages a worm 7 on the shaft of a driving motor 13, the driving and worm-wheels being formed with internal grooves during moulding or casting so as to receive with an interference fit splines 21a on the shaft 21. The wheels 5 are preferably of polyurethane material and are biased against the underside of the rail by a spring 3. The wormwheel 6 is preferably formed of a polyamide material. The hollow shaft 21 is mounted by ball bearings 23 on an axle 5a and circlips 22 in circumferential grooves 21b on the shaft prevent axial displacement of the wheels.
