1,016,153. Limiting the firing arcs of guns. BREDA MECCANICA BRESCIANA S.p.A. Dec. 20, 1961 [Dec. 29, 1960], No. 45568/61. Heading F3C. An interrupter device for limiting the firing arc of a gun, e.g. to avoid hitting parts of a ship's structure, comprises a cylinder 3 on which is mounted a cam 2 relating to the restricted field of fire and a feeler 1 associated with the cam to control a firing circuit breaker 6 or mechanical fire control means, the cam cylinder 3 being rotated on its shaft 12 by gearing and a shaft X rotated with azimuth movement of the gun and the cylinder 3 being moved axially on the shaft 12 by a forked lever 4 moved by elevational movement of the gun. In order to allow for the time delay between actuation of the firing mechanism and the time at which the projectile leaves the barrel during rapid angular movement of the gun, the feeler 1 is displaced relative to the cam 2 (and the fire of the gun thus interrupted) in accordance with the angular velocity of the gun. This is done by mounting the feeler 1 on a frame 7 freely rotatable on the shaft 12 and rotating the frame 7 by a pull-rod 8 connected to a control arm 9 of a variable speed drive 10 which controls the angular velocity in azimuth of the gun, and by connecting the forked lever 4 to the variable speed drive for the elevational movement to effect axial adjustment of the cam 2 relative to the frame in accordance with the angular velocity of the gun in elevation.
