Abstract
A gun mount comprises two aiming control members 4 1 , 4 2 for aiming the gun about vertical and horizontal axes and which carry levers 5 to enable the gunner to fix the gun A in position with respect to the corresponding aiming axis and at least one control element 18 for controlling the firing of the gun. The gun is adjusted for elevation by member 4, through shaft 10 fast therewith, gear 41, Fig, 1 (not shown), and toothed rack 42 and is adjusted for direction by member 4 2 through a similar shaft 10, gearing 43, 44, 45, 46, 47 on stirrup 3, and teeth 48 on the actual support 1. The members 4 1 , 4 2 are fixed in adjusted position by similar locking devices actuated by pivoted movement of levers 5, which movement through gearing 6, 7, 8 causes sleeve 9 to rotate so that a hub 12 is caused to move axially by the engagement of oblique abutting surfaces on the members 9, 12 to grip the flange 14 fast with the member 4 1 between friction surfaces 16, 17. Pivoted movement of member 18 causes a rod 19 to move axially between two positions for initiating and stopping firing of the gun, a bevelled guide 25 on the member 18 moving a rod 23 axially to actuate linkage 22 which in turn moves rod 19 axially. A similar arrangement may be provided on the lever 5 of the member 4 2 to choose the kind of firing.
