Abstract

1,016,120. Boots &c. BOSTIK Ltd. June 27, 1962 [June 30, 1961 (2)], No. 36771/65. Divided out of 1,016,493. Drawings to Specification. Heading A3B. An outsole is provided around its margins with a layer of non-tacky adhesive which is solvent-free, and at least partially transparent to radiant heat, and is thermoplastic. If the outsole is made from rubber it may be coated with a primer before the adhesive is applied. In attaching the outsole to a shoe both the outsole and shoe bottom are heated, pressed together and allowed to cool. Specified adhesives are linear polyesters; polyesteramides, stereo-specific catalysed polymers of vinyl alkyl ethers, polymers and copolymers of alkyl acrylates and methacrylates and linear thermoplastic polyurethanes.
