Abstract

101,559. Pougher, A. W. Jan. 3, 1916. Soles.-To facilitate the repair of boots, such as those for military use, the middle sole 3 has secured to it a strip of T-section, which is preferably in two pieces 1, 2, and extends from a point near the toe to near the back of the heel, where it abuts against a segment 15 of leather. The detachable sole, which may carry a heel 19, is built up of three plies 12, 13, 14 to form a recess corresponding to the strip, and after sliding it into place, it is secured by screws or by staples 16. The strip 1, 2 is preferably made of rubber reinforced with embedded gauze, canvas, metal strips, &c.
