Abstract

3342. Israelowitz, A., and Wachtler, H. Feb. 9. Heels.-A detachable heel for boots and shoes is secured in position by a metal band c having a flange d to engage with a groove or recess in the sole, the ends of the band being provided with sockets e to receive a screw f, by turning which the heel is secured or released. To prevent longitudinal displacement of the heel, the band c is provided with a hinged plate k having a pin l, which engages in a recess in the sole. The band is varnished or coated to match the colour of the boot &c., and may be provided with pins i to penetrate the heel and hold it fast. The heel, which is reversible and also interchangeable from a right boot to a left or vice versa, may be built up of a numberof layers of different materials, such as leather or felt and rubber. Thus, it may be formed of a layer b of felt and a layer a of rubber, either of which can be brought into wear as desired.
