Abstract
1,015,103. Winding layouts for electric motors. HITACHI Ltd. Feb. 25, 1964 [March 4, 1963; April 22, 1963; Aug. 31, 1963], No. 7862/64. Heading H2A. Concentric pole windings producing successive poles in a motor stator winding are of alternately long and short pitch, or expressed another way, each phase band consists of a major part belonging to a concentric winding having a greater maximum pitch, and a minor part belonging to a coil or concentric winding of smaller pitch than this. Thus, as shown, phase U has pole-windings Una, Unb and Unc, Und generating (say) north poles and of pitches nine and seven slots respectively, and pole windings Usa, Usb generating south poles and of pitch seven slots only. The use of this shortpitched coil saves copper and reduces leakage, and it may be further short-pitched so that its sides are not contiguous with those of the main coils. The inner coil of the main winding may be omitted. Various other arrangements are described. The motor may be of split-phase type, and the windings may be graded.
