Abstract
In single phase motors with less than two-third of the number of stator slots wound, the magnetic performance of the machine, with regard to harmonics, can be improved by redistributing the conductor density around the stator bore perimeter. Advantageous results are achieved by arranging the number of conductors per slot in such a manner that the slots with the greatest number of wires are nearer the pole axis than the neutral axis. Windings of this type can also be applied to motors with two paths where one acts as a starting winding.
