Abstract

1,015,101. Roller mills. HENRY SIMON Ltd. June 7, 1962 [June 30, 1961], No. 23666/61. Heading B2A. A roller mill for grinding cereal comprises a pair of parallel rolls 2, 3 mounted in a common horizontal plane and driven so that one roll rotates at a faster peripheral speed than the other and a deflector means 6 arranged to intercept material being fed in the form of a falling curtain at uniform density and re-direct it so that it forms a layer of uniform density on the surface of one of the rolls at a position parallel to and rotationally in advance of the nip of the rolls by an amount between 10-42 degrees. Material fed from a box 4 is deflected by a plate 6 which is adjustably mounted so that its inclination and position of its lower end can be regulated. The plate may be concave or convex and be made interchangeable with other plates of differing shapes.
