Abstract

1,013,176. Leno-woven selvedges. F. SCHULTEN. Aug. 7, 1964 [Aug. 10, 1963], No. 32331/64. Headings D1E and D1K. An internal selvedge mechanism for leno yarns 8, 9 comprises two lens healds 5, 6 which run in the right hand and left hand pair alternately of three guides 2, 3, 4, between which are slots 37, 38 in which standard threads 39-42 are independantly shed. As the leno healds 5, 6 rise (Fig. 2) a tongue 14a strikes a member 31 which pivots about 30 against a leaf spring 34 so that it "snaps over" its centre and pushes down a rod 28 to tilt a heald guide 10 so that, when the healds descend, they enter the left hand pair of guides 2, 3. When the healds next ascent the member 31 pushes down rod 27 to tilt the guid 10 back into the position of Fig. 2 so that the healds enter the right hand pan of the guides 3, 4 as they descend. A fabric construction as in Fig. 3 is obtained in which the leno yarns 8, 9 cross over two or more standard wash threads 39-42, this fabric being subsequently divided along the warp.
