Abstract
1,012,896. Pipe joints. A. SCHACK, [trading as REKUPERATOR KOMM-GES. DR. ING. SCHACK& CO.]. Sept. 3, 1964 [Sept. 6, 1963], No. 36176/64. Heading F2G. A gas-tight joint between two metallic structural parts for an operating temperature above 600‹ C. and with an oxygenating gaseous medium having access to the joint consists of a layer of mild or ingot steel intermediate between the parts which scales and increases in volume due to the operating temperature and the oxygen so as to form a rigid and gas-tight joint. A pipe 1 is sprayed at 3 with a layer of mild or ingot steel before assembly with a plate 2 or with another pipe (Fig. 2, not shown). The parts may be tack-welded together to assist assembly.
