[Also in Group XXVIII] A flanged pipe joint includes a metal gasket 1 enlarged at its inner edge to form a lip 5 which sealingly contacts the opposite parallel faces of the pipe flanges 8, 9 over relatively narrow zones. The crosssection of the lip may be triangular, quadrangular, polygonal, circular or elliptical. The gasket is preferably of aluminium and is located by the joint bolts 10 passing through holes 2 in the gasket.
