[Also in Group XIII] In making a vessel for heating or cooling liquid in bulk (see Group XIII), a troughshaped member 2 having flanges 3 one of which is turned out to form a web 6 is seam-welded to a plate 1 along both its flanges so as to leave the edge of the plate lying within the flange having a web. The edge of a further plate 1 is then abutted against the first plate to be welded thereto and to the flange. The plates are preferably made of stainless steel.
