A method of locating a resilient insert in a cavity therefor of smaller dimensions comprises the steps of dividing the insert 7, which, e.g., as shown is in the form of a flat slab of resiliently flexible material, into at least two segments 6, urging the segments into moulds 8 to reduce their cross-sectional areas and form them into the required shape, causing the segments to set hard in the moulds by temperature reduction, removing the segments from the moulds, placing the hard set segments into the cavity and allowing them to thaw out and be resiliently constrained under compressive stress, within the cavity. The parts 6, which are pressed into the moulds by associated pistons 9, collectively form a bush, e.g. for resiliently interconnecting two coaxial shafts.
