Abstract

1,016,392. Resilient mountings. GENERAL MOTORS Ltd. April 4, 1963 [April 12, 1962], No. 14151/62. Heading F2S. [Also in Division F2] A resilient support, adapted to be stressed in compression and allow a degree of transverse circular motion, comprises a block 3 of resilient material mounted between a pair of coaxial cup members 1, 2, the inner surfaces of the cup members and the outer surface of the block being shaped and disposed to form intervening annular spaces which taper towards the bases of the cups. Bolts 6, 7, secured, e.g. by bonding, to the blocks 3 project with clearances through apertures in the cup members. As shown in Fig. 2, the cup members have frusto-conical inner surfaces which co-operate with straight sides of the block while in another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the cup members are of cylindrical shape, the straight sides of which extend over concave sides of the block. The inner surface of the cups 1, 2 and the outer surfaces of the block 3 can be both shaped non-cylindrically.
