Abstract

1, 012, 399. Wind direction and force indicators. G. R. FOUNTAIN. July 2,1964 [June 14, 1963], No.23824/83. Heading G1R. In a wind direction and speed indicator a rotatably mounted wind vane 1 is connected to a bridge piece 13 which carries brushes 4, 5 to complete a circuit to one of a number of lamps 8 disposed in a corresponding angular position to the vane 1 around a compass card 12 and a wind speed indicator has a number of anemometer cups 20 driving a generator 22 the voltage of which is recorded on a volt-meter 25 calibrated in terms of wind velocity. The indicator needle of meter 25 may complete a circuit to an audible or light warning device on reaching a pre-determined position. Alternatively an alarm may be operated by the generator current.
