[Also in Division F2] A motor vehicle steering mechanism comprises an arcuate member 9 slidable in bearings 6, 7 along its arcuate axis, a rack 19 formed on the member 9 being engaged by a pinion 21 carried by the end of the steering shaft. The bearings 6 and 7 are bolted to a U-shaped frame cross-member 5 which has its base uppermost and is connected to the side members 1 of the vehicle. Sinks 11 and 15 are connected by ball joints 13 and 17 to the arcuate member 9 and by other ball joints to the wheel steering arms. Polyurethane gaiters are fitted to the ends of the bearings 6 and 7 whose arcs lie on the same circular arc.
