Hand-actuation; actuated or applied by driving- mechanism disengagers.-In friction driving-gear for machines, the driven wheel 5 is displaced for disengagement from the driving-wheel 2 by the application of a brake block 6, and the driving- wheel is simultaneously displaced by the reaction of the brake mechanism by mounting this mechanism and the wheel 2 upon the same springy or yielding support 1, which may be fixed to the frame A of the machine by bolts 21. The brake mechanism comprises a pair of toggle-links 8, 10 adapted to be straightened bv a pedal 13 integral with the links 10. The brake can also be applied for reducing the speed of the machine without stopping it, by the pedal 16 connected to the block 6 and pivoted at 14. A returning-spring 17 is provided for the pedal 16.
