Abstract

1,011,181. Two-part couplings. JOSEPH LUCUS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. April 27, 1964 [May 16. 1963], No. 19239/63. Heading H2E A connector for making an electrical connection with a spark plug comprises a connector defining a bore which receives an end of the spark plug, a conductive pin 13 supported by the connector and a resilient means such as spring 12 for urging the pin 13 to a position in which it projects into the bore. The bore has a cylindrical inner portion 6 and a part frustoconical outer portion 7 which also incorporates a flat 8. The bore is specially shaped so that the end of the spark plug can only be moved into position by moving the pin inwardly against the spring 12. The pin subsequently engages within a waisted portion of the plug, and the remaining compression of the spring 11 ensures that a good electrical contact is made between the plug and pin 13. The movement of pin 13 is limited by head 14 which also electrically connects the pin to an electric lead 10 via suppression resistor 11, spring 12 and end cap 9.
