Abstract

1,010,612. Supporting surgical lamps. QUARZLAMPEN G.m.b.H. Nov. 23, 1962 [Dec. 4, 1961], No. 44397/62. Heading F4R. [Also in Division A5] A lamp for an operating theatre is mounted on a swivel arm rotatable on a hollow pivot pin projecting down from the ceiling and accommodating a supply column for electricity or a fluid medium. The supply column may convey electric power, oxygen or laughing gas to a distribution head which may also be carried on a swivel arm. In the form shown, the pivot pin 5 carries two lamps 6, 7 pivoted in forks c, the shanks d of which are axially rotatable in bearings e pivotable about a horizontal axis f on a link g which is rotatable about a vertical axis b on an arm i carried by a pivoted bearing k on the pin 5. The axes b and f can be replaced by a ball-and-socket joint. A supply column extends down the interior of the pin 5 and carries a distribution head 12. Alternatively the distribution head may be carried on an arm similar to that which supports one of the lamps 6, 7. A further articulated arm may then be mounted at the lower end of the pin 5 to carry a camera for still photography of cinematography, a television camera or an operating microscope. Stop devices may be provided to prevent the lamps from coming into contact.
