Abstract
730,168. X-ray apparatus. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Nov. 20, 1953 [Nov. 28, 1952], No. 32208/53. Class 98 (1). The apparatus comprises an X-ray examination table having a frame tiltable about either a first or a second axis fixed relative to a fixed base and carrying an X-ray tube, a cable connecting the tube to a source of power, and a cable-supporting member pivoted to the base at the first axis and to the frame at a point lying on the second axis. As shown in Fig. 1, a frame 3 supporting a table top 2 is tiltable about either of two releasable pivots 4, 5 on a fixed base 1. The supply cables 7 are brought along a duct in or under the floor to the base, to which they are clamped at 8, pass along a duct 9 on a side member 12 pivoted to the base at the pivot 4 and to the frame 3 at a point co-axial with the pivot 5, and are led into the interior of frame 3 at 11. When the frame tilts anti-clockwise about pivot 4, the cables 7 straighten out; when the frame tilts clockwise' about pivot 5 the cables are bent in the vicinity of the pivot. Within frame 3; cables 7 are clamped to the midpoints of the sides as shown in Fig. 4, and cross over to join the X-ray tube 6, which is mounted to move along and across frame 3. The length of the cables is sufficient to allow free movement of the tube.
