Abstract

1,010,218. Packing cigarettes. MOLINS ORGANISATION Ltd. Oct. 16, 1964 [Oct. 30, 1963], No. 42895/63. Heading B8C. A cigarette package in which the contents are arranged in more than one row and the number of cigarettes divided by the number of rows is not a whole number, wherein a cigarette, not at the end of the row, is nested between the cigarettes, each of a different row, on either side of it. In a package for twenty cigarettes, two cigarettes 2, 3 in the middle of the package are nested as shown. The package is filled by conventional apparatus, cigarettes from a vane hopper pass down slots 6 between partitions 5, the middle slot having a packing piece 8 to raise the cigarettes the height of a radius above the bed of the machine 7. A batch is pushed out by fingers 10, 10a of a reciprocating pusher 9 through guides into a package. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the arrangement of fifteen cigarettes in two rows is illustrated.
