1, 008, 896. Measuring pressure electrically. SOC.NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. April 24,1962 [April 24, 1961], No.15484/62. Heading G1N. A pressure gauge comprises an elastic wall 1 subjected on one face to the pressure to be measured and carrying an electrical wire strain gauge 5 on its other face, a second electrical wire 5<SP>1</SP> identical with the strain gauge but not subjected to pressure, and serving as a temperature compensation element, a thermal insulation chamber 11 enclosing the assembly, and an electrical measuring device arranged outside the chamber. As shown, wall 1 is cylindrical and carries a second strain gauge wire 6 wound side-by-side with the first. The compensation element is similarly wound sideby-side with a similar wire 6<SP>1</SP> on a second cylinder 1<SP>1</SP> surrounding the first. Bracing member 7,9 support the cylinders inside and outside, and provide a chamber 12 into which fluid is introduced. The thermal insulation chamber has a high thermal capacity and may be highly polished. Wires 5, 6,5<SP>1</SP> and 6<SP>1</SP> are connected in the arms of a Wheatstone bridge.
