Abstract

[Also in Division H1] A thermocouple for use in a gas oven comprises a strip element 6 which is joined to and protectively envelops a portion of a second element 7 to form a hot junction 8. The element 6 may be sheet iron and have one end soldered to the element 7 which may be a Constanton wire, the other end of the element 6 being formed into a support for an insulating washer 12 and the base thereof containing holes 9 for mounting the couple. Wires 14,16 are joined to the wire 17 and strip 6 respectively by soldering, welding or clamping, wire 16 passing through a continuation 15 of washer recess 11.
