Abstract

1,008,390. Quasi-random numbers. C.S.F. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. May 25, 1962 [May 30, 1961; June 7, 1961; June 19, 1961], No. 20117/62. Heading G4D. A circuit for generating a quasi-random number, which may be added to a cryptographic signal of digital type and subsequently subtracted, comprises binary counters and logic circuits. The prior art is represented by Specifications 924,382 and 954,313. Stages 5-8 of a clock-pulse generator emit pulse patterns as shown. The pulses from 5 feed cascade counters 1-4 of different capacities, some or all the outputs of which feed decoders 10-13 connected to permutators 14-17. The permutated outputs arranged in sets of four feed OR gates 18-33, only some of which are connected to AND gates 38-49, which are controlled also by stages 6-8 of the clockpulse generator. The AND gates are crossconnected to auxiliary counters 34-37 the outputs of which may represent the quasirandom number or may feed a further network.
