Abstract
1,236,535. Electrophonic musical instruments. HITACHI Ltd. 29 Jan., 1970 [5 Feb., 1969], No. 4442/70. Heading G5J. [Also in Division H3] A gating circuit adapted to provide a desired rise or fall slope in the output signal, for example for an electronic musical instrument, comprises two active elements Q1A, Q1B having the input signal applied to one at 1A, the output signal derived from the other at 3 and a common electrode connected to an active gating element Q3A to which the gating signal is applied through an envelope forming circuit. As shown, the two active elements Q1A, Q2A constitute a differential amplifier and the gating element constitutes a controllable constant current common emitter supply. When the key S is made the capacitor C2 charges to switch on the constant current at a desired rate. When the switch is opened the capacitor discharges through R6 at a rate which is controlled by the mark-to-space ratio of high frequency pulses applied to the base of Q4. A single capacitor circuit may serve for a plurality of gates (Fig. 2, not shown).
