Abstract

1,008,282. Gyroscopes; theodolites. WILD HEERBRUGG A.G. Aug.27, 1962, No. 32888/62. Headings G1C and G1F. A gyroscopic accessory for use with a theodolite comprises a bridge 17 secured to the standards of the theodolite A, and a housing B accommodating the gyroscope having pins 28 engaging recesses in the bridge 17 so that by releasing clamps 26 the housing B may be detached from the theodolite A. The rotor casing 9 is supported by member 6 and a filament 18 and fed with current by three coiled leads 19 secured between a plate 20 and the member 6. Oscillations may be damped by a pin 24 engageable against the casing 9 and the rotor position observed by autocollimater 11 and mirror 23. Caging is effected by rotating a screw 15 which moves fork 12 upwardly to press casing 9 into engagement with ring 22.
