Abstract

1,008,216. Balustrades. R. H. JULIAN. June 6, 1963 [June 8, 1962], No. 22656/63. Heading E1B. A section of balustrade, to be supported between spaced posts on a horizontal or inclined support surface, comprises top and bottom rails 2, 3 each with a longitudinal recess, and a plurality of balusters each having at each end a pivot 7 engaging in a recess, and spacers 10 between the pivots, the angle between the balusters and the rails being adjustable to the inclination of the support surface. As exemplified, the rails are of aluminium and the balusters are straight (as shown), or of ornamental, e.g. diamond, form. Posts supporting sections of balustrade pass through the bottom rails 3 into slots in the top rails and are secured by appropriate angle brackets.
