An extensible support or stay for bannisters, railings, &c., comprises two elongated decorative members a, a<SP>1</SP> Fig 3 connected together by bands b, b<SP>1</SP> fixed to the members a, a<SP>1</SP> respectively, the members a, a<SP>1</SP> being bent at their outer ends where U-shaped metal clips C Fig. 2 are provided for securing stay in position in a bannister, railing or like structure.
