Abstract

1,007,660. Hinges. THOMAS DE LA RUE ENGINEERING Ltd. July 29, 1964 [Aug. 16, 1963], No. 32468/63. Heading E2F. A pivotal connection between two hinged members 1, 2, eg. toggle arms of a toggle press, comprises a pivot pin 16, seated in shell bearings 12, 13, which are housed within the adjacent ends of the hinged members 1, 2 and a pair of caps 5, each cap engaging a frusto-conical groove 23 in each member to maintain contact between the bearing surfaces. The end caps 5 are retained by a nut and bolt, 25, 18, the nut being seated on a spring washer 26 or on a plain washer. Alternatively a tubular spacing sleeve may be inserted around the bolt 18 and between the inner faces of the caps 5. To compensate wear between the co-acting surfaces 20, 23 ratchet teeth may be machined in the periphery of the end caps at "T" to engage with associated spring loaded pawls on the toggle member to effect intermittent rotation of the caps. The caps may be adjusted angularly either separately or with the pin 16.
