Abstract

1,227,832. Bearings. COOPER ROLLER BEARINGS CO. Ltd. 2 Jan., 1970 [24 Oct., 1968], No. 50491/68. Heading F2A. A split ball or roller bearing has its inner and/or its outer race split into halves 10, 11, each of which has inclined connecting faces 12, 13 and is provided with holes to receive screws 21 therein. The halves 10, 11 have recesses 16 and projections 17 respectively to facilitate axial alignment thereof and the half 11 is additionally provided with screw-locating surfaces 20. The angle between the faces 12, 13 and the axis 14 of the race may be 10 degrees; the angle between the axis of each screw 21 and the faces 12, 13 may be 30 degrees; and the angle between each screw-locating surface 20 and the faces 12, 13 may be 60 degrees.
