Abstract

1,007,658. Secondary heat-exchange surfaces. MORRIS MOTORS Ltd. June 2, 1964 [July 10, 1963], No. 27261/63. Heading F4S. Flat gill plates 6 are spaced along quasirectangular tubes (not shown), the tubes passing through closely fitting tube receiving apertures 2 having marginal flanges 7 on opposite sides thereof, which are shaped inversely to each other, i.e. the opposed flanges may differ in height but the sum of their heights is constant, a portion 8 of each having a height exceeding half the gap between complementary flanges. Thus the plates are rendered self-spacing along the tubes, with a possible maximum spacing equal to the gap between the flanges. The top edge 9 is made longer than the fold at its base in order to prevent the plates 6 falling into each other.
