Abstract

1,219,321. Clips; pivots. AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO. Inc. 4 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 597/68. Headings E2B and E2F. [Also in Divisions B1 and B2 Flat filter elements of various thicknesses may be located in a gas filter frame 1 between grids 5, 7, of which at least grid 7 is adjustable by its members 10 being inserted in selected ones of slots 8 in plates 6 on the inner face of the frame. Grid 7 comprises a basically U-shaped wire (14), presenting two end members 10 hingedly engaging plates 6 on one side of the frame and portions 19 which snap into corresponding slots 8 in two other plates 6 on the opposite side. Slots 8 are dovetail in form (Fig. 5, not shown), and plates 6 are resilient enough to allow members 10, 19 to be forced into the slots. The frame has an inner flange 3 of U-section (Fig. 2, not shown) with apertures 11 wherein some but not all of the cross-wires forming grid 5 are located by resiliently deforming the grid. Several elements could be located in one frame with extra grids between them. Frames could be stacked to operate in parallel, with bars inserted in their aligned channels (4) formed by flanges 3, within a common outer frame.
