Abstract

1,006,530. Magnetic switches. KIENZLE UHRENFABRIKEN A.G. March 20, 1964 [April 11, 1963], No. 11877/64. Heading H2B. [Also in Division G3] An electric timepiece comprises a balance 2, 5 carrying a permanent magnet 3 and forming a magnetic circuit with an air gap, a stationary impulsing coil 6 lying in the air gap in the zero position of the balance, and a sealed magnetic-field-sensitive contact 7 lying outside the air gap adjacent the coil 6 and with its longitudinal axis parallel with the axis of the coil, whereby when the balance passes through its zero position the stray field 14 of the magnet operates the contact to energize the coil 6. Upon closure of the contact, the stray field 15 of the coil 6 also acts upon the contact in the same sense as the field 14, as does the field 8<SP>1</SP> of an auxiliary magnet 8 which is adjustable in the direction of the arrow, Fig. 1, to vary the sensitivity. In zero position the contact 7, the axes of the magnet 3 and coil 6, and the balance axis 1 lie on a straight line. Spark quenching resistor and capacitor 20, 21 are provided. An eddy current damping disc 22 is arranged 180 degrees from the coil 6. The balance may be replaced by a pendulum.
