Abstract
872,072. Measuring electrically. ULTRA ELECTRONICS Ltd. April 21, 1960 [May 6, 1959], No. 15498/59. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXVI] In a displacement transducer a Hall plate x is arranged for translational movement in its plane between the magnetic poles 17, 18, 19, 20. In its mid-position, as shown, the Hall voltage due to the field between poles 17 and 18 is balanced by the Hall voltage due to poles 19 and 20, there being no resultant output. Movement of the Hall plate to left or right, however, reinforces the Hall voltage developed by one pair of poles at the expense of that developed by the other, giving a resultant output dependent in magnitude and phase on the movement of the Hall plate relative to the poles.
