Abstract

1,005,982. Metal-working presses; casting- machines; machine tool details. SCHLOELMANN A.G. June 4, 1963 [June 28, 1962], No. 22120/63. Headings B3B, B3F and B3H. A heavy machine tool, such as a forging press or a die-casting machine, has a frame of laminar construction and the edges of the laminations 12, Fig. 3, are embraced by two retaining plates 13, 14 clamped together by tie-rods 15 extending outside the laminations. An upstroke forging press frame comprises two stacks of plates 1, Fig. 1, of chain link shape forming columns 1a. The stacks are tied together by lower and upper laminated yokes 2, 9 and bearing plates 3, 10. Plate 3 supports a pair of fluid cylinders 4 whose pistons 5 operate the press slide consisting of plate 6, laminations 7 and casting 8. Each column 1a, Fig. 3, is tightly clamped by the retaining plates 13, 14 and keys 18. These retaining plates may be cast or machined from thick plates and provide slideways 19, 20 for the slide 8 which has separable corner extensions 11 and slide members 21, 22.
