Abstract

A device for wedging or chocking a wheel of a vehicle carried by a surface which has a plurality of holes comprises one part rigid with a wedge or chock member for engagement with a vehicle wheel, another part adjustably secured to the first part and including expandible means for engaging in any one of the holes and actuating means for expanding the expandible means when the latter is engaged in one of the holes whereby the second part is secured to the surface Means, Fig. 1, for coupling the fixed section 100 of a device to the surface 117 of a wagon comprises a fixed jaw 107 provided on a plate 106 and which has pivoted thereto a lever 114 carrying an eccentric 115. The latter on swinging movement of the lever 114 forces a movable jaw 111, pivoted at 110 on the projection 109 of the plate 106, into a position where a projection 112 underlies projection 118 formed in the holes 120 in the wagon platform. Projection 108 on the fixed jaw also underlies the projection 119 to releasably couple the fixed section to the platform. In an embodiment of the device, Fig. 2, the fixed section is coupled to the platform 201 by means of a fixed jaw 218 having screwthreadably received therein a cylindrical body 224 having shoulders 226, 227 thereon between which project the bifurcated end of movable jaw 221. The latter is pivoted at 220 and is moved to couple the fixed section to the platform on rotation of a square spindle 231 by a hand wheel 232. The spindle 231 passes through a square orifice 229 in the body 224 and on rotation thereof causes the body 224 to be screw-threaded into the fixed jaw 218 to thereby pivotally move the jaw 221. The end of a pivoted cam lever 206 is in the shape of a V and co-operates with a tube or wire 214 secured to the fixed section to adjustably connect the latter to the movable section comprising the housing and scotch block 240. The lever 206 may be moved away from the tube 214 by a spring-loaded lever 207. In a further embodiment, Fig. 6, the movable jaw 26, controlled by a lever 263, is formed with an end 271 which co-operates with a rack 254 secured to the movable section.
