Abstract
In a process for the preparation of 3-methylmercapto - 10 - [21 - (111 - methyl-piperidyl - 211)-ethyl-11]-phenothiazine and its acid addition salts, a compound of the general formula <FORM:1005376/C2/1> in which Hal is a chlorine or bromine atom, is cyclized in the presence of (i) a chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbon containing at least 2 chlorine atoms in the molecule or tetralin and of (ii) sodium or potassium hydroxide, and, when it is desired to form an acid addition salt, salification is effected.
