Abstract

1,004,736. Roofs. R. T. COLE. March 26, 1963 [March 27, 1962], No. 11658/62. Heading E1V. A roof structure comprises trapezoidalsectioned planks 13, having upper and lower stressed metal skins 14 and 15 of e.g. aluminium containing a light-weight core of e.g. expanded polystyrene, and spanning between adjacent parallel I-beams 10. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the skins 14 and 15 have edge flanges 14a, 14b, 15a and 15b whereby adjacent planks are hooked together, together with end flanges 14c having a pressed out portion 14e accommodating an extended portion 14f of an adjacent plank. Each end flange 14c has a rib R so that a capping C can be held in position above an I-beam 10, to which each plank is bolted, at a step 16 in its end. In the embodiment of Fig. 5, the capping is replaced by a weather strip 20 and a sealing compound and/or strip 19, there being no end flanges, and modified edge flanges.
