Abstract

A culture medium suitable for the growth of Microbacterium ammoniaphilum (ATCC 15354; see Specification 993,699 in Division C2) contains sorbitan mono-oleate as a substitute for biotin.ALSO:L-Glutamic acid is produced by fermentation of a species of Microbacterium ammoniaphilum (ATCC 15354; see Specification 993,699) in a fermentation medium not containing biotin, but containing an oleic ester of sorbitan.
