Abstract
5 - Amino - 4 - imidazolecarboxamide ribofuranoside is made by culturing a strain of a species of Bacillus capable of producing 5-amino - 4 - imidazolecarboxamide ribofuranoside in a culture medium containing a saturated C3- 9 fatty acid, or a salt thereof. The fatty acid may be added to the medium after culturing has begun, but preferably no longer than 20 hours after commencement. The preferred acid is butyric acid.
