Abstract

1,004,231. Wall and ceiling panels. DOMINION TAR & CHEMICAL CO. Ltd. Nov. 26, 1963 [Nov. 27, 1962], No. 46591/63. Heading E1V. A panel 16 comprises a facing layer 13 (Fig. 2) backing means 12 and at least one mounting clip 11 (Fig. 1) with a perforated tab portion 17, located between the layer 13 and the backing 12 and secured in position by adhesive 15 extending through the perforated portion 17 to directly bond the layer 13 and the backing 12. The facing 13 may be a sheet (Fig. 4) which is larger in area than the backing 12, which may be a sheet arranged with respect to the facing 13 to extend beyond at least one pair of opposite edges thereof, to which edges are attached the clips 11 with tabs 17. The clip 11 grips on to the panel 16 by the parallel tabs 17 and 20 between which is a web 19. Each clip 11 (Fig. 2) has a portion 21, two of which co-operate with a structural member 14 to spring it for assembly and removal of panels 16. The facing sheet 13 and the backing sheet 12 may be low core strength boards. A patch extending over each tab 17 may act as backing, or the clip 11 and hence the tab 17 may extend the length of the panel 16, a backing strip also doing so. In another form of clip the portion 21 is partly curved and is sprung against the side of the head of a different structural member, whereas in a further form the portion 21 is V-shaped to spring into a groove in a parallel and flat-faced structural member.
