Abstract
1,004,115. Electromagnetic relays. B. LAZICH. April 6, 1962, No. 13409/62. Heading H2B. An electromagnetic relay comprises a coil 5 wound on a non-magnetic bobbin 6 having a flange 7 at one end, an axially magnetized permanent magnet ring 27 coaxially mounted with the coil adjacent the flange, a cylindrical magnetic shell 14 encasing the circumference of the coil and its other end and magnetically connected to the end of the permanent magnet adjacent the coil, a polepiece 30 connected to the other end of the permanent magnet, and a pivotally mounted armature 21 which is normally held in engagement with the permanent magnet polepiece. The armature is mounted within the coil and in the normal position engages polepiece 30 at one end of the coil and the polepiece 28 of an axially magnetized permanent magnet ring 26 at the other end of the coil. The armature is coupled to a contact actuating slide 37 by a pivoted arm 35. The relay is enclosed in a sealed magnetic casing 1. The relay shown in Figs. 3 and 4 is similar to that of Fig. 1 except that only one permanent magnet is provided and the armature 64 is pivoted on a soft iron core of the coil. The armature 64 is multi-limbed and is movable between the limbs 63 of the polepiece secured to the permanent magnet and the limbs 69 of a polepiece secured to the magnetic casing 45. The armature is normally held in engagement with limbs 63 by the permanent magnet. An insulating disc secured to the armature 64 has a plurality of circumferentially spaced abutments 72, between which pivoted hairpin contact springs 75 are located. Each spring is engaged alternately by its adjacent abutments 72 and moves between fixed contacts 82, 83.
