Abstract

1,003,767. Two-part couplings. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Oct. 24, 1961 [Oct. 24, 1960], No. 38038/61. Heading H2E. A multi-contact socket connector comprises an insulating body 1, having sleeve contacts 3 mounted in parallel, through bores in the body so that a mating pin may extend completely through the body. The sleeves have a non- circular internal cross-section for engagement with pins of complementary cross-section. Insulating fins 5 separate adjacent socket contacts. The pins may be mounted in a similar insulating block. One pair of pins is longer than the others so that this pair makes contact with the sockets before the others. Each sleeve contact and each pin has a screw-type wire terminal 13. An insulating cover may be provided, and a latch may lock the body parts together.
