Abstract
1,003,700. Cables; voltage dependent resistor material. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Dec. 28, 1961 [Dec. 30, 19601, No. 46378/61. Headings H1A and H1K. A tape for equalizing the potential gradient along an electrical insulation comprises a thermoplastic or elastomer and constituents which give the tape a pronounced voltagedependent resistivity. The thermoplastic may be polyvinyl chloride and the constituents silicon carbide. Mixtures are described which also contain dioctyl phthalate and white lead. Fig. 1 illustrates the application of the tape 7 to the equalization of the potential gradient outside the edge of the metallic sheath 5 at the end of a cable. With a multicore cable, Fig. 2 (not shown), the type is also applied to the individual insulated cores. Alternatively, a seamless extruded casing may be used. Specification 842,039 is referred to.
