Abstract

1,003,569. Sliding clasp fasteners. PLASCO Ltd. Sept. 11, 1961 [April 21, 1961], No. 32449/61. Heading E2S. A sliding clasp fastener comprises a tape 10 and a plurality of fastener elements 14 mounted on one surface 11 only of the tape each element 14 incorporating a main body portion having an outer coupling end portion including a coupling head 15 projecting beyond one edge of the tape which latter presents adjacent the edge of the tape a longitudinally continuous upstanding ridge 12 projecting from the surface on which the fastener elements are mounted, the height of the ridge being greater than one half of the thickness of the main body portions of the fastener elements, the portions of the ridge 12 between adjacent surfaces of adjacent fastener elements acting as ties to oppose movement apart of the fastener elements in a longitudinal direction so that accidental disengagement of coupled stringers by folding thereof is resisted. As shown, the fastener elements where they overlie the edges of the tapes are offset to provide downwardly inclined surfaces 16, at the tape edges to maintain the tape spaced from a lower wall 33 and an internal shoulder 36 of a slider 31.
