Abstract
1435280 Sliding clasp fasteners YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 4 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 24654/74 Heading E2S A sliding clasp fastener F, comprising a pair of stringer tapes T 1 , T 2 a row of interlocking fastener elements E secured to and along one longitudinal edge of each of said stringer tapes, a slider, not shown, movable along said longitudinal edge to couple and uncouple the rows of fastener elements, and a bridge top stop 10 positioned at the upper end of the fastener and adapted to prevent the slider from running off said upper end, the bridge top stop embracingly overlying a first length of fastener elements Ea that remain coupled at said upper end and a second length of fastener elements Eb that continue from the first length but are uncoupled, and the bridge top stop being bonded integrally with said first and second lengths of fastener elements to the stringer tapes. As shown, the bridge top stop comprises a body portion 11 and bifurcated portions 12, 13 which embrace respectively the first and second lengths of engaged, and disengaged, fastener elements Ea, Eb. The lower end of the stop is recessed at 14 and has its sides shaped at 12a, 13a to provide an anchorage for the slider, the stop having flanges 15, 16 which are integrally bonded to the tapes. The stop and the elements E are preferably formed of thermoplastics material so that they can be integrally bonded adhesively, or fused, together by heat and pressure. A stop (10), Figs. 3, 4 not shown, is attached to the fastener (F) by injection moulding, and a strip of thermoplastic film (17), Fig. 5 not shown, can be attached to the upper end of each stringer (T 1 , T 2 ). The stop 10 and the elements E can be made of metal.
