Abstract

1,003,401. Breathing and pressure control for pressure suits. MINISTER OF AVIATION, LONDON. Jan. 25, 1963 [Oct. 27, 1961], No. 38516/61. Heading B7U. A system for governing the supply of ventilating/pressurizing air and breathing oxygen to a pressure suit 10 comprises a suit pressure control relief valve 35 in communication with the air within the suit via a flow restrictor 36 to discharge air to the environment, an air discharge valve 33 for spilling air from the suit which is influenced to the closed condition by pressure from the valve 35 through a conduit 34, and an oxygen flow regulator 15 to supply a mask 12 and jerkin 11 which responds both to the wearer's suction demands and to the suit inflation pressure, the suction line 19 and pressure line 17 being applied on opposite sides of a diaphragm 16. The lines 17, 19 and the ventilating air supply line 24 pass through a personal connector 22, secured to a seat 23, which also connects an emergency oxygen supply 25 and 26.
